Francis Mwaura Kamau, MICPAK
Finance and Investment Consultant
Francis has over 25 years’ experience at both local and international non-governmental organizations where he took a lead role in the Finance and Administration departments. Over those years, he had four years in the corporate sector to oversee the sustainability initiative of the not-for profit entity he worked for. He has a passion for investment and a strong commitment to encourage local entities become sustainable and take responsibility for their development agenda. He has been responsible for the Kenya Community Development Foundation (KCDF) Trust endowment, which over the years has grown to own tangible assets, which are now generating sufficient income for supporting the Foundation’s programmes.
Francis has been the Operations Director for Liverpool Voluntary Counselling and Testing Health (LVCT Health) – 2019-2022, an NGO that deals with matters health where he managed finances and operations to significantly have a breakthrough on financial stability. During the three years, the NGO grew significantly eventually attracting funding from USAID Kenya, and the annual budget doubling and it procured its own office space.
Francis was the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for KCDF-Investment Holdings Limited between 2015 and 2019. The company has a joint shareholding of a local and a foreign partner from South Africa and was formed with the purpose to create an income stream for the shareholders.
Before joining the corporate sector, Francis was the Finance Director KCD between 2008 and 2014. He saw the Foundation grow in leaps and bounds in terms of asset value. Francis has worked in other organizations; including, MildMay International as the Finance Manager, Hope for African Children Initiative, a project of Plan International Kenya as the Grants Manager, ActionAid International – Kenya, as the Regional Accountant, where he served in both Eastern and Rift Regions. He has a thorough understating of community dynamics in fundraising and project implementation and has a deep knowledge on the grants management cycle. He has served in several boards both in the social forums, Schools, Finnlemm Sacco and Churches and in the corporate sector. He has attended several international and local seminars over the years to sharpen his skills in the relevant disciplines.
Academic and Professional Qualifications
Francis holds a Post graduate degree of Business Administration, Finance Option from the University of Nairobi. He did his International Business Administration Degree at United States International University-Africa (USIU-A). He is a Certified Public Accountant CPA (K) and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ICPAK). He also holds a Diploma in Project Management from University of Washington.
